Meet Our Pet Sitting Team
Household: I live with my Shih Tzu.
Hobbies: I enjoy dog play dates and small social dinners.
Professional History: I started as a South Paw client in 2016 while treating my elder dog to massage therapy. While living an early retirement and having a “never too late to find your passion” attitude, I joined the South Paw Team later that year as a Swim Coach and Pet Safety Education Developer. I became South Paw’s first pet sitter and helped develop the company’s Pet Sitter Training Program.
Experience: I have been a professional animal caretaker since 2015; I have always helped friends and neighbors care for their pets while they travel. I’ve had the privilege of caring for many pets of my own.
Why I love working with pets: I retired from a non-animal related career and when I learned how fulfilling it was to care for my own special-needs senior dog. I knew my second career would be caring for others people’s pets. Providing for special needs, learning about safety and what it takes to professionally care for animals comes very natural to me.
Availability: In-My-Home: I can care for your pets at my home. I have a small fenced in outdoor space and a private neighborhood to stroll for walks.
In-Your-Home: I am willing and able to care for your pets in your home and assist you with anything you may need.
Hometown: I am originally from Lakeland, Florida. Vero Beach has been my home since 1984.
Household: I live with my husband and two senior chihuahuas.
Hobbies: Being outside, reading good books and shopping.
Professional History: I worked at Piper Aircraft, CVS and in a hospital. I began working for South Paw in 2020.
Experience: I have experience with seizures, senior and fearful dogs. I can accommodate special needs pets, medicines, and insulin injections.
Why I love working with pets: When I began working at South Paw, I found what I had been missing my whole life. I have always had a passion for ALL animals–and my pets have always been rescues. I truly believe that nothing is more important than care and love for all animals!
Availability: In-My-Home: I offer a small, quiet family atmosphere. I do not have a fenced yard, but I do provide lots of leisurely walks and outside time. In-Your-Home: I can also pet sit in your home, so that your pets can continue a regular routine, making less confusion and stress for your baby.
Hometown: I was born in Portugal. I’ve lived in Vero Beach and Connecticut most of my adult life.
Household: I live with my rescue chihuahua.
Hobbies: I like reading and crocheting. I love walking and having a furry friend to stroll with makes it more enjoyable.
Professional History: I have been a caretaker most of my life. I am currently caring for a special needs senior citizen.
Experience: I always loved caring for animals. I have been caring for them professionally (for more than just friends and neighbors) since 2016. I’m experienced with senior pets, special needs (including insulin), fluids and any type of medication dispense. I love walking and having a furry friend to stroll with makes it more enjoyable.
Why I love working with pets: I love caring for pets because I am a natural caretaker–and I like being called their “grandma.” I also enjoy becoming friends with our clients.
Availability: In-Your-Home: I am available to watch pets in your home–from pop-ins to overnights.
Pet Sitting Division Manager
Hometown: I grew up in Iowa and moved to Vero Beach in 2021.
Household: I live with my husband, son and two toy poodles.
Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy taking photographs of my son, who models for Amazon. I enjoy going to the beach, traveling to new places, and spending time with my family.
Professional History: I worked in insurance billing and as a paralegal until I started working at South Paw in 2021. I was promoted to manager in 2023.
Experience: I have a lot of experience with senior dogs, high anxiety/separation distress dogs, diabetic dogs and exotic animals including lizards. I am well-versed in administering medications for heart and kidney disease.
Why I love working with pets: I’ve had a passion for animals since I was a child. It feels so rewarding to develop a bond with them and make a positive impact on their lives.
Availability: In-My-Home: I can accommodate pet sitting in my home–I reside in a quiet neighborhood in a cul-de-sac with sidewalks and a private backyard. I also offer a private suite (bedroom) for your pet for $85/night.
In-Your-Home: I can provide pop-ins at your home.
Hometown: I moved Sebastian about two years ago from Miami.
Household: My family includes my wife, three spaniels and a cat.
Hobbies: My favorite hobby is watching my security cams that I've set up on my canal and next to my bird feeder.
Professional History: I had a successful dog walking and pet sitting business in Miami for 15 years before I moved to the area. I joined the South Paw Team in early 2022.
Experience: I've worked with dogs of all sizes and ages. I'm familiar with giving medication. I've worked a lot with parrots, including hand feeding babies.
Why I love working with pets: I love working with pets because I love all animals in general. I have a very relaxed attitude which I think the pets pick up on–they are drawn to me. We help each other relax… I could be surrounded by animals all day every day.
Availability: In-My-Home: I prefer to offer this exclusive option–one family of pets to share my home with me at a time. My home is quiet, and I have a fenced yard for well-behaved dogs to enjoy.
