Shelia Stewart

Hometown: I am originally from Lakeland, Florida. Vero Beach has been my home since 1984.

Household: I live with my husband and two senior chihuahuas.

Hobbies: Being outside, reading good books and shopping.

Professional History: I worked at Piper Aircraft, CVS and in a hospital. I began working for South Paw in 2020.

Experience: I have experience with seizures, senior and fearful dogs. I can accommodate special needs pets, medicines, and insulin injections.

Why I love working with pets: When I began working at South Paw, I found what I had been missing my whole life. I have always had a passion for ALL animals–and my pets have always been rescues. I truly believe that nothing is more important than care and love for all animals!

Availability: In-My-Home: I offer a small, quiet family atmosphere. I do not have a fenced yard, but I do provide lots of leisurely walks and outside time. In-Your-Home: I can also pet sit in your home, so that your pets can continue a regular routine, making less confusion and stress for your baby.

Mark Peters- Pet Chauffeur

Hometown: I moved Sebastian in 2021 from the Miami area.

Household: My family includes my girlfriend and four spaniels.

Hobbies: My favorite hobby is watching my security cams that I've set up on my canal and next to my bird feeder.

Professional History: I had a successful dog walking and pet sitting business in Miami for 15 years before I moved to the area. I joined the South Paw Team in early 2022.

Experience: I've worked with dogs of all sizes and ages. I'm familiar with giving medication. I've worked a lot with parrots, including hand feeding babies.

Why I love working with pets: I love working with pets because I love all animals in general. I have a very relaxed attitude which I think the pets pick up on–they are drawn to me. We help each other relax… I could be surrounded by animals all day every day.

Availability: In-My-Home: I prefer to offer this exclusive option–one family of pets to share my home with me at a time. My home is quiet, and I have a fenced yard for well-behaved dogs to enjoy.

Household: My home life includes helping care for an elderly friend, along with a dog and cat who are part of the family.

Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my grandkids, crocheting, reading, and relaxing with family.

Professional History: I have experience caring for people with special needs, which has given me patience, compassion, and attention to detail that carries over naturally into caring for animals.

Experience: I’m comfortable caring for pets with special needs, including administering insulin, inhalers, and seizure medications. I also have experience with dogs who have anxiety and may need additional patience and reassurance.

Why I love working with pets: I love caring for animals and giving their owners peace of mind while they’re away. Knowing their beloved pets are safe, comfortable, and well cared for in their own home is especially rewarding to me.

Availability: In-Your-Home: I’m available for everything from pop-in visits to overnight care in your home. When I don’t have other pet-sitting jobs or personal appointments, I prefer to spend as much time in the home with your pets as possible, providing plenty of companionship and care.

Hometown: I’m originally from Connecticut and have been living in beautiful Vero Beach since 2006.

Household: I help care for my elderly father and mother, along with my small rescue dog and cat.

Hobbies: I enjoy fishing, camping, playing video games, and spending time with animals.

Professional History: I have experience working in a dog daycare setting, caring for and managing dogs of different sizes, ages, and personalities with individual needs.

Experience:  I’m comfortable caring for a variety of dogs and understand that each one communicates and adjusts differently. I especially have a soft spot for fearful dogs who need extra patience and time.

Why I love working with pets: I truly enjoy spending time with animals and learning about their behavior and the ways they communicate. Building trust with a pet, especially one who may be nervous or unsure, is one of the most rewarding parts of working with animals.

Availability: In-Your-Home: I’m available for dog walking and pop-in visits. For our current clients, I can also provide overnight care as an overflow sitter or when emergency coverage is needed.
